The Ugliest Landsapes in DC contest

We have a winner!

Our judges have selected the winners of the "Ugliest Landscapes in the DC area" contest. The grand prize $5,000 landscape makeover winner is Ross Margulies of Washington DC. His creative video and song inspired many others to submit over a hundred funny, touching, and entertaining entries for our contest. See the before and after photos below.

Our five $500 gift card winners are Anne and Dan Butler of Arlington VA, Annie Page of Fredericksburg VA, Satchmo and Ella Wallace (2 dogs) of Alexandria VA, Stephen Murphy of Reston VA, and Kristina and Erik Beall of Alexandria VA.

Thank you to all of our deserving contest participants. There were many troubled landscapes that need work, and some that just need a little design advice. We would love to be have been able to give a prize to all, but we encourage all to keep working at it, the rewards in developing a beautiful garden for your property pay dividends in the value and enjoyment of your home.

Prior to the selection of winners of the Ugliest Landscape contest Mr. Margulies recruited friends to help build a brick patio for entertaining. After consulting with landscape designer Nick Delledonne a lattice screen was constructed to create a more intimate setting, and screening evergreens and flowering vines on smaller lattice structures were utilized to provide privacy and beauty.
